Nothing Says Hope

November 30, 2011

Catchy title, right?  Well when I firstr saw it I susspected  sarcasm.  It sounds like a song title from a Nhilist thrash metal band.  But the lyrics say otherwise.

“Nothing says hope like a dead man walking  And there aint no God like the one I got.  He made the blind to see, made the deaf to hear, made a lepers’s spots disapear…(2008 Amber Sky Records, written by Chrystina L. Fincher)

As we go through the holiday season we can talk to our unbelieving friends, our athiest and pagan friends and we can love them.  We will not convince them otherwise.  But we can love them.  And regardless of what path they are taking we know that they are traveling without hope.  But we are not, so…” Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect…”  (I Peter 3:13)

And if your personal story includes a dead man walking, remember to share that, too.  Mine is not nearly that dramatic, but it is still good news for someone living without hope.

Hebrews 6:19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure…
