Reality vs. imagination

April 28, 2011

We were walking in the woods today.  The wind was blowing, the branches were swaying.  I looked around at all the fallen trees and thought to myself,  “I hope one of those branches doesn’t fall on us.”  And just as I thought the words, a huge branch came hurtling from the sky.

It must have been ten or twelve inches long, and almost a half an inch think!

OK, so the reality of my fear was much smaller than the imagination of my fear.

And it almost always is.

Psalm 118:6   The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?

God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.  (II Timothy 1:7)
