A snicker from the end of the sofa

January 21, 2011

I know you will think I am spending too much time alone when you read this.  In my last post I mentioned learning something from a dog.  And as I was writing a chuckle came from the other end of the sofa.  No words, just a soft chuckle, as if something struck my friend right in the funny bone.

I wasn’t writing out loud, so it couldn’t have been the thought of a large dog limping down the road that made her laugh.  She couldn’t have been thinking about what fun she would have tormenting a fat dog, could she? After all she has a bit of arthritis, herself, making stair-climbing more difficult every day. But there is no doubt that she snickered, or giggled.  It wasn’t a guffaw or a loud laugh, just a little chuckle.

I asked her about it, but she just started purring; it must have really amused her.

What I really hope to hear is a chuckle from God.  I hope something I say or do amuses him.

Anything else he might like to add…that would be OK too.
