Leaving a mark

December 25, 2010

We were walking through a park and came upon a stand of trees, under which there had a been a big party. There were hundreds of tracks from dozens of deer.  The snow was all trampled down in an area of several hundred square feet.  A close inspection revealed that the party was held in honor of acorns.  The stand of trees were oaks, and the deer had pawed the ground in search of acorns, and apparently they found enough to have a party.  The evidence was everywhere.  The deer had left their mark.

So what are you doing to leave a lasting positive mark on your tiny portion of the world?  Is what you are digging for worth the mess you are making?  After you are gone, will people miss you, or just clean up after you?
