A man of the Word

March 22, 2010

I was watching a bit of basketball this weekend.  They showed the locker room of Murry State, where their head coach was saying, “I want you to play with three things. Power…Love…And a sound mind…”

I wonder how many people in the locker room or watching on television knew the coach was quoting from 1 Timothy 1:7.  “God did not give us the spirit of fear.  He gave us a spirit of power, love and self control.”  Or “of a sound mind” depending on your translation.

Murry State lost Sunday, but their coach showed himself to be a man of the Word.  I don’t know anything about him except that he impressed me Sunday.  The Word of God is powerful; learn it use it, live it.
