Continuing with the 10 steps Rebecca Haglin suggests in Chapter 22, on page 21301-05-09 080

  • Make you home a place where kids hang out
  • Keep your teenager active in sports, volunteer activities, church, work, or better yet-with you
  • Monitor where they go, and who they hang out with.
  • Opt your kids out of the graphic sex education taught in public schools.
  • Find a strong faith-based or church based youth group and encourage your teen to become involved.

There’s a park near our home where, well off the beaten path there is an ominous sign that says “100 steps.”  We walk down those 100 steps and are always rewarded by a magnificent view; and we are always faced with the fact that we have to go back up 100 steps.  Once you have done it a few times it’s not so bad; it’s actually rewarding taking the steps up too.

The task is daunting, raising kids, teaching values, talking about sex.  But it is worth the effort a thousand times over.
