Are you dreaming God’s dreams?

May 14, 2009

How do we help our children dream big dreams ?  It’s more than just letting them play on a travel team.  It’s more than talking about Harvard or Princeton or Wheaton.  It’s helping them discover God’s dreams for their lives.

In 30 Ways in 30 Days to Save Your Family, Rebecca Hagelin reminds us, “…I’m convinced that all decent parents pretty much want the same thing for thier kids.  We want them to be happy and safe, and develop into adults of character…And creating a vision for our children’s best future reminds us of the prize.  It’s not enough for us to be against things, we must be for something, too.” (Chapter 2, page 20)

Most of us don’t set goals or make plans for ourselves, and are therefore stuck with mediocre lives.  Do we really want that for our kids?  Start today and dream God sized dreams.  Imagine, dream and pray for your child to accomplish something  great for God.  Dream Philippians 4:8 for your children

8 Finally, my brothers and sisters, always think about what is true. Think about what is noble, right and pure. Think about what is lovely and worthy of respect. If anything is excellent or worthy of praise, think about those kinds of things.  (NIrV)

Share these dreams with you children.  Let them know that you believe, hope, pray and expect the best for them.

The quotation comes from 30 Ways in 30 Days to Save Your Family, by Rebcca Hagelin, Published by Regenery Publishing, Inc.
